The basics?

What should I expect at EdFest 2019?

A festival is a celebration, and EdFest is designed to do just that. Our national black male educator convening is a chance to highlight the incredible work being done in schools and communities around the country. Like any conference, we have keynotes,  breakout sessions and panels. We also provide a marketplace for products, curated events in our theatre, live podcasts, evening activities and access to the best of Philadelphia! Our sessions range from classroom pedagogy and practice to research, policy and self-care. Check us out on social media to get a glimpse of the agenda and the kinds of sessions being offered.

What should I bring?

The Fellowship’s convenings are known for dropping serious knowledge. Make sure you have your favorite note-taking tool to capture the best gems from the weekend. We also suggest business cards and, of course, that handy dandy phone charger.

What should I wear?

At EdFest 2019, come as you are! You’ll see three-piece suits, sneakers and everything in between.

This is dope but I need to get approval from my school/supervisor. Is there something I can show them to explain why I need to be there?

We got you! Check out these templates for language you can use to explain EdFest and unlock those PD dollars!

I’m not a Black Male Educator. Can I still attend EdFest?

ABSOLUTELY! While our target audience is BMEs, we know that the system will not change without the support of our co-conspirators in education and the community at-large. We have sessions for educators and non-educators of all shades !
